I actually did stuff this weekend. I had never been to Lynn Canyon before. It was nice to be out of the city, and I shot a roll with the Zero 2000. I had a dog almost wipe out the camera during one exposure.

In all I have three rolls to drop off tomorrow. It seems like ages since I've dropped off more than one roll.

Lately, I feel like all my photos are starting to look the same. This one perhaps being an exception. It was from a spur of the moment walk over to Lynn Creek in North Vancouver while Heather was getting her car fixed. Maybe it would have been better in colour.

Beware the Ides of March

Today is the day Flickr requires a Yahoo account to log in. Any original members who haven't merged their accounts with a Yahoo account are supposedly going to be locked out. All this to make it easier for them to manage the login system. Or as I suspect, to bring the pre-Yahoo users under the Yahoo terms of service, which are slightly more favourable to them.

The whole thing, along with the Wii BS and a few recent cases of copyright infringement have made Flickr feel a lot less friendly. Never mind all the trolls in the forums. "Permission? Payment? You should be honoured that a major corporation thinks your photo is worthy of being used in their advertisement."

I merged my account last night. I don't want to give Yahoo a free gift of three months of paid account. I'd miss a few people there as well. But if something as good or better comes along, I'll go, and hopefully bring a few people with me.

As a pointless symbolic gesture I've deleted my user icon and from now on will use the default icon, since I realize we're all just generic users to them. I'm also repeating the gesture I gave the Flickr owners when I first heard they sold out to Yahoo.

How to spend a rainy Saturday

I would have liked to go take a bunch of photos today. But it was far too ugly outside.

Instead, I went to my brother Mike's house and watched him build a 4x5 pinhole camera for me. I helped out a little bit with the design, but he did most of the work and had the best ideas. I used the pinhole from the camera I made out of a box. The focal length is the same. He made it out of some plywood. I can't wait to get out and use it.

I haven't been out of the house since Monday night, except to take some garbage out last night. I do have plans for tonight though. I haven't taken a photo since March 1st either. I should go for a walk or something. I just don't feel like going anywhere.
