Giving up.

Last night I dreamt that I gave up photography to go work in a sawmill. Through hard work and diligence I managed to go from the greenchain to supervisor in one day.

I wonder what that dream means.

Anyway, I'm off to take photos with my new trashcam.

Djuliet thinks I'm a clown.

I'm about to take off. I'm dropping off at the lab, then going to the bike shop for loads of fun.

If you want to see me make a total ass of myself, join the guitar nudes group on Flickr. Just a warning, it's funny and stupid but probably not safe for work. (If you ask nicely, I'll add you as a friend so you can see all my naughty photos on Flickr.)

sigh.......

I love beer and I enjoy getting wasted occasionally. But I believe it's having a deleterious effect on my hands. I should have been having a great time last night hanging out with cool people. And I did have fun, but I would have had a much better time if it wasn't for the burning pain in my hands. They only get this bad after I get wasted, and I think it's safe to say that the five beers I had on Monday night got me blotto.

So I've decided it's time to stop getting drunk. No more beers for me for the next few weeks. I hope things will improve. If not, then I'll go back to drinking myself into a coma every week or so.

Happy Monday

I dropped off five rolls of film today, so it must have been a pretty good weekend.

The computer is pretty much set up now. Everything seems to be working fine.

I wish I could say the same about myself today. My belly feeling like it's been kicked a few times. But I must have something going today. Girls were acting all flirty to me today.

yay!

My new computer is working again. I also have a new hard drive and DVD burner. And I haven't lost any of my photos or MP3s. And I know it will bug her, but thanks be to Heather for her help with installation and moral support.

Richards on Richards

oh my poor head

Someone please remind me not to drink five beers in one night. Don't get me wrong. I had a fun time, the concert was great, (more about that later,) and getting wasted helps blow off steam.

But now my belly is quite unfortunate, my head isn't much better, and my hands look like cracked leather. I also had insomnia for most of the night. The only advantage to that is that I finally finished reading Guns, Germs and Steel.

Heather and I had no luck with the computer last night. There are a couple things I'd like to try, but I don't think I'm up to that today.

oh crap

Somehow I've managed to fry my new computer. I've been trying a couple Linux live CDs, Ubuntu and Knoppix. They both would boot with no problems, and Knoppix was able to mount my C drive, and then it would boot back into Windows when I restarted. Windows XP wasn't burning CDs, so I tried burning one with Knoppix. It burned it with no problem, but now I can't boot back into Windows. I just get this weird Y(|)Y(|). (|) being an infinity type symbol that I can't find in character map. I can boot from CDs still. Heather came over and she tried booting from the XP CD and restoring the MBR. But that did nothing. Knoppix can still access my data, but I can't boot from the damn thing. I have 40 GB of photos to rescue from there.

Fortunately I still have the old computer running. So I'm still able to connect to the internuts. For the three people besides Heather who read this thing, do you have any ideas how to fix this thing?

Catherine Merdy

My friend Monique e-mailed me to ask about Catherine Merdy, a photographer we met in Paris in the summer of 2000. I haven't heard from her in about two years. I googled her name and came across this website. I think you should check it out.

Once again

Here I am apologizing once again. My old web server is so bad, I've switched over to blogspot. The website is up, but FTP is inaccessible and e-mail to christopher@czarf.com has been spotty at best. But I don't really give a damn about either of them. They only reason the domain is even registered was to keep someone else from using my name.

Anyway, I'm posting again and I can't think of anything interesting to write about. I went for a short walk in the drizzling rain this afternoon. I managed to take a grand total of two photos with my Seagull TLR. One of those might have been ruined by someone stepping into the shot. I have no plans for tonight, except to read or listen to music. I wish I could get some quiet time by myself. But that doesn't seem to be an option for me right now.
